Pondering toward the empty sky up above
What gave humans the ability to love?
Is their another form of existence
Or are these beliefs just within us
Will man realize religion is made up
Created to fear and control us?
God does not save, nor condemn
Nor takes bribes to get into heaven
God is not a man, figure or saint
So pictures of him you cannot paint
God's not on tv, nor the crosses some wear
It is a feeling within us, like crispy air
Humans must feel love, it is our nature
For some unfriendly, that love is hatred.

Happiness for the Non-beliver |
I've heard to have happiness, you must believe
if we all have the same ideals, we'll live in harmony
well sure this sounds nice, but take a closer look
if you're not a mystic, you're living your life by a book
peacefulness and happiness is our common goal
but there is much darkness before the end of the tunnel
I'm told materialism is just man's evil
I often feel the same about the supernatural
I can't deal with the closed minds of those who know it all
everyone wants their answer to be the one for us to follow
I'm standing on my rock, no better than anyone else
giving my piece to the puzzle that will never be solved
until we can respect what one another think
we'll be trapped on this boat just now starting to sink

I kill thee in the name of God!
A thousand year old book
Embodied as law
My faith as written
As someone else saw
I kill thee and shall justify
You criticize my god, you die
I will fight for the Holy Land
But don't blame ME, I'm only a man
Is my belief sane and just
I was brought up this way - I must
I cry as I see you below me in a puddle
But is this right? This is my struggle.

there's an old single woman who lives downstairs
she owns several cats and meddles in others' affairs
she sells her god like it's mary kay
always telling me about my judgment day
she leads a simple life, with her simple mind
i wonder what it's like to think that you are always right?
she's got a simple life, she's got a simple mind
a salesman of the lord who'll save her when she dies
she's got a ten foot poster of a fetus dyin'
she hangs it up around my dinner time
always telling me to watch my mouth
thinks she knows what i'm all about
she's called the police on me for being offensive
the cops tell her Kevorkian is not that expensive
but i try not to bother her, she's just wants to be saved
it's going to be better for us all once she gets to her grave
she leads a simple life, with her simple mind
i wonder what it's like to think that you are always right?
she's got a simple life, she's got a simple mind
a salesman for the lord who'll save her when she dies

Justifying Double Homicide |
It's against my religion to kill me
So no gas chamber for me
put down the needle for lethal injection
it's in the Bill of Rights you see
you can't persecute my religion
I still have purpose in life
So many people to save and convert
and it's my constitutional right
I thank God for the justice system
such a great nation indeed
it's this wonderful system of loopholes
that makes this country so free
So please Mr. Governor spare me
Who cares if I've done wrong
Because you don't have that power
The only true judge is God

They say I need him,
But I don't
I can look to myself,
Because I am strong
They say I need his love,
But I have faith in myself?
I am not weak,
Don't make me think I am
An army of people with problems
Endless numbers of those who need hope
Children being brought up in guilt,
Too innocent to learn shame
Teaching the love
Of not thinking for one's self
They call it faith,
I call it a weakness

The Faith Dilemma Part One |
When I was young I thought that
God was a big man in the sky
I was told the devil lived in hell beneath the Earth
Then unable to reason, I know now it is a lie
Why fill our children's heads with sick fantasies
Why give them the scare
It's not like the story of Santa Claus
The rewards from God seem rare
Because he created the world in a week
And he created human beings
He loves us all, but punishes, yet forgives
Such an inconsistency
When told a lie so many times
You start to believe it
And when so many have such faith
You're ostracized to reject it

the road to heaven
is paved with selfish intentions
built by the greedy minds
for those who will listen
the hurt and the injured
the worried and the weak
the co-dependent automatons
a higher source they seek
it's so easy to turn
and foster a belief
the fantastic and miraculous
is what they want to see
so tell me my child
is this the path for you
the easy, helpless-selfish path
big brother constitutes
are you willing to trade your soul
and be told what to believe
their hands are reaching out
but are you in desperate need?

my neighbor has a fish sticker on her car
she cheats on her husband while he's at work
he sleeps with his patients
and on sunday they go to church
i wouldn't fit in at church
i've done too much good in my life
yeah, everyone's a hypocrite
but my neighbors takes the pie
so Derek what did you give up for lint?
i don't celebrate that shit
if i wanted to give up something,
it would be of my own will
not out of obligation
to an organized religion

Have you been saved?
I feel his love in my heart.
I don't need friends because I have Jesus.
You should really come to church with me, I think you'd like it.
Would you like to try some drugs?
This is the best high you'll ever feel.
You won't need another drug again.
Come on...everybody's doing it.
No, I'd better not, drugs makes you stupid.
No, I'd better not, Jesus makes you stupid.
I don't have to be cool to do drugs.
I don't have to be cool to do Jesus.
Why do you do drugs son? I learned it from watching you.
Why do you do Jesus son? I learned it from watching you.
Parents who do drugs have children who do drugs.
Parents who do Jesus have children who do drugs too.
